HCPC Registered

The Health and Care Professions Council is the official UK regulator, an organisation set up to protect the public. They keep a register of health professionals who meet the required standards for training, professional skills, behaviour and health.

They regulate health professions including arts therapists, biomedical scientists, chiropodists / podiatrists, clinical scientists, dietitians, hearing aid dispensers, occupational therapists, operating department practitioners, orthoptists, paramedics, physiotherapists, practitioner psychologists, prosthetists / orthotists, radiographers, and speech and language therapists.

All these professions have at least one professional title that is protected by law (that is they cannot call themselves by those titles unless they meet the required criteria and are registered with the HCPC. This means, for example, that anyone using the titles 'physiotherapist', 'dietitian' or indeed 'Educational Psychologist' must be registered with them.

It is a criminal offence for someone to claim that they are registered with the HCPC when they are not, or to use a protected title that they are not entitled to use. All OEAC Educational Psychologists are fully registered. You can check the HCPC database to ensure the registration of any individual Educational Psychologist at the official HCPC Check website here: http://www.hcpc-uk.org/
